TONALITY experience: architecture through material + video of the meeting

On November 4, BUDZIRKA held a unique open meeting with a representative of the German architectural ceramics factory Tonality. Previously, such presentations were held only within the framework of internal company events — this time, we invited our partners, architects, and builders to give them the opportunity to hear information from the primary source and discuss current trends and technical solutions in architectural ceramics.

Who was present and the format of the meeting

The meeting brought together a small, professional audience—representatives of partner companies, architects, and installation organizations—for whom it is important to keep abreast of current architectural trends and have a good understanding of materials. The program included a presentation from Tonality, a demonstration of completed projects, a technical section, and a question-and-answer session.

Topics covered

During the event, key issues were discussed in sequence:

  • Why ceramics have become so popular in modern architecture — aesthetic possibilities, durability, resistance to atmospheric influences, and environmental characteristics of the material were discussed.
  • What Tonality offers to architecture — tile formats, design options for facades and interiors, textures and surface finishing options, as well as custom design capabilities.
  • Completed projects — examples of Tonality products used in real architectural contexts were shown, with an analysis of challenges and solutions.
  • Technical aspects — detailed consideration of fastening and substructure systems, frost resistance and waterproofing indicators, requirements for substrate preparation and compatibility with other facade systems.
  • Q&A session — participants asked practical questions about installation, operation, maintenance, and design nuances; a Tonality representative provided detailed technical answers.

Key findings

  1. Architectural ceramics maintain their competitive advantages thanks to a combination of aesthetics and technical reliability.
  2. Tonality offers a wide range of formats and surfaces suitable for both facade solutions and interiors.
  3. Successful project implementation requires a coordinated approach: the right substructure, consideration of climatic conditions, and careful preparation of the base.
  4. Technical support from the manufacturer and consultations during the design phase help reduce risks during installation and operation.
  5. Professional discussion and exchange of experience between the manufacturer, architect, and contractor significantly accelerate the adoption of optimal solutions in projects.
